Evelio
The Evelio brand, from the Dominican Republic, pays tribute to Evelio Oviedo, a Cuban master cigar maker. Its cigars are handcrafted at the MATASA factory in the Dominican Republic, with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Dominican binder and Dominican long-filler tobacco. Its range favours timeless vitolas such as Corona, Robusto, Toro and Churchill, prized for their smoothness.
History
Evelio Oviedo, a Cuban master cigar maker, spent more than two decades at the Havana H. Upmann factory before continuing his career in Brazil. He then worked alongside Néstor Plasencia to help develop premium cigar factories and production methods. Decades later, the brand was revived by General Cigar, which brought back a cigar designed to be enjoyed any day of the week. After many years off the market, the brand returned in 2022, true to its original philosophy.
