Farias
Farias is a Spanish cigar brand whose name comes from Heraclio Farias, a Mexican inventor of Galician origin. Best known for the Superiores cigar, the house expanded its range with smaller formats such as Farias Chicos, Farias Club, Farias Mini and Farias Puritos. Now part of Altadis, it is produced in Cantabria.
History
The Farias story begins in 1889 with Heraclio Farias, who developed a system for making cigars using tobacco strands in the filler. The Compañía Arrendataria de Tabacos tested the invention in Bilbao, adopted it the same year, and the first cigars reached the Paris Universal Exposition. From 1890, Farias cigars were also produced in La Coruña.
The Superiores cigar became the house's reference and accounted for a significant share of its sales for decades. Farias Chicos arrived in 1993, followed by Farias Club in 1996. Today, Altadis, part of Imperial Brands, continues to market the brand, produced in Cantabria.
