Alfonso
The Alfonso brand, born within Selected Tobacco S.A. in Costa Rica, takes its name from Nelson Alfonso Egüed, the company's founder and a respected designer in premium cigars. Made at Tabacos de Costa Rica, its cigars favour extended ageing and carefully considered formats, notably the Extra Añejo and Gran Selección lines.
Historia
Alfonso sits within the portfolio of Selected Tobacco S.A., the house also behind Atabey and Byron, and stands as one of the newest pillars of that group. Its name honours Nelson Alfonso Egüed, the company's founder, whose design work has shaped the world of premium cigars. The cigars are produced in Costa Rica at Tabacos de Costa Rica, where each vitola is left to mature before reaching the market. Selected Tobacco has also taken part in building a premium factory in Madrid, bringing cigar production back to Spain after decades without such an installation.
