La Gran Llave is a Nicaraguan cigar house founded in 2016 and produced at the Tabacalera AJ Fernandez factory in Estelí. Its style rests on a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper paired with Nicaraguan tobaccos, offered in several vitolas, including the Connecticut line with an Ecuadorian wrapper.

Geschichte

The brand was born in 2016 from the project of Michael Argenti, a veteran of the premium cigar industry and former head of Berger & Argenti, partnering with Angel Aguayo. Argenti entrusted production to Abdel "A.J." Fernandez at his Estelí factory, where the first cigars were made. The name means "the great key", a reference to something of special importance. In late 2016, A.J. Fernandez acquired the brand outright, having produced it from the very beginning. The original line debuted with five vitolas, from the Corona Extra to the Double Corona. The Connecticut line later joined the family, featuring an Ecuadorian wrapper.
