AVO
AVO is a Dominican cigar house born from the vision of jazz pianist Avo Uvezian and distributed by Oettinger Davidoff AG. Its range runs from the mellow, everyday Classic to the more complex, longer-aged XO, alongside the Syncro Nicaragua, whose peppery and earthy character comes from Nicaraguan leaf.
History
The house traces its origins to the early 1980s, when jazz pianist Avo Uvezian teamed up with the Fuente family, renowned cigar makers in the Dominican Republic. This partnership produced the first official batch of AVO cigars, released in 1987. Within that single year, more than two million cigars were sold.
Originally, Avo Uvezian conceived a cigar for his own use while playing piano in lounges. Rapid success turned this personal project into a brand recognised by aficionados. The house has since linked its blends to musical themes, such as the name Syncro, which evokes synchronization.
