La Escepción
La Escepción is a historic Cuban cigar brand within the Habanos portfolio, founded in Havana by José Gener, who also created Hoyo de Monterrey. Its entirely handmade cigars, built with long-filler Cuban tobacco, are prized by aficionados for their quality and their limited, collectible releases.
History
Founded in the nineteenth century by José Gener, the brand built a reputation for high-quality cigars over several decades, before production ended in the late 1980s. It returned in 2011 through the Habanos Regional Edition programme, as an exclusive release for the Italian market. Since that revival, every new vitola has drawn the attention of collectors. Its best-known releases include Selectos Finos, Don José and La Escepción Selectos Reales, all created as regional editions for Italy. La Escepción is one of the very few historic Habanos brands to have been revived exclusively for a regional distributor.
