La Palina
La Palina is an American cigar brand from a Chicago family, now produced in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Founded by the Paley family, the house offers premium lines such as Family Series, El Diario, Goldie and Classic, available in Robusto, Toro, Churchill and Gordo vitolas, each with distinct ring gauges and tobacco blends.
History
Samuel Paley, a Ukrainian immigrant living in Chicago, founded a cigar company in 1896 that would become a family business. The name honours his wife, Goldie Drell Paley, affectionately known as Lena. Hugely popular in the early twentieth century, the brand disappeared in 1926 when Samuel retired from the business. His son, William S. Paley, took a different path, becoming one of America's most influential television executives and transforming CBS into a broadcasting giant. More than eight decades later, Bill Paley, the founder's grandson, revived La Palina Cigars in 2010 with a new generation of premium cigars.
