Geschichte
The brand was born in Cuba in 1875, founded by Inocencio Álvarez and Manín García, who chose a name evoking a Shakespearean tragedy, much loved by cigar rollers. During factory readings, the rollers entertained themselves this way while crafting each cigar. The brand truly rose to prominence when it was acquired by José "Pepín" Rodríguez Fernández, a Spaniard with a sharp business vision who aimed to sell cigars across the world. He went as far as personalising bands with the names of important clients, a gesture that became a signature of the house.
