History
The house is rooted in the story of Joya de Nicaragua, founded in 1968 by Simón Camacho and Juan Francisco Bermejo. Joya was the first premium cigar factory in the country and has weathered political upheaval, exile and a return. Within that context, Astoria was created as a line of well-made, accessible cigars with a recognizable profile, while keeping the house style fully intact. Its name refers to the Astoria neighborhood in Queens, New York, an area historically linked to immigration and a classic urban style.
