History
The idea for Yagua was born in 2019 from a conversation between Drew Newman, a fourth-generation member of the J.C. Newman family, and Lázaro López, manager of the PENSA factory. López recalled his grandfather rolling his own cigars in Cuba during the 1940s and 1950s, bundling them with yagua leaves so they dried together. Drew Newman chose to revive the method. First introduced in 2019, Yagua was later released as a limited-production J.C. Newman cigar, aged roughly one year after production.
